Here are some links to give you more information about Feline Leukemia.
The symptoms of FeLV are similar to other viruses, so kitty will need a blood test to confirm. The test can be performed in the vets office and you will have the results in about 10 minutes.
    Purrs to you and kitty.

Loss of appetite, lethargy, dull coat, labored breathing. I just lost a cat to this in December. It can go years undetected but when it does hit, they usually die within a week to 10 days. The only way to tell is with a blood test. There’s no cure & the preventitive vaccine sometimes does more harm than good. What a heart breaker.

The symptoms range from severe to very mild but have a very wide range. FeLV is not a leukemia like we think of in humans, instead it is an immune disorder.
The symptoms are not actually due to the virus itself but from some other disease process that takes hold because the cat is not able to fight it off like a non-immune compromised pet would.
Basically, there are FeLV-positive cats that show no symptoms and there are cats that have severe symptoms that can be attributed to a number of other conditions as well. The big ones are severe lethargy (tiredness), decreased appetite, weight loss and general unhealthy appearance – so it really does not have symptoms that can be attributed to FeLV alone. Sorry – no easy, clear cut answer on that one! :)
