Sounds like you already have an out. If that doesnt work, swear that the place is haunted.

You CAN’T unless you go to court and file a small claim for the damages cause by someone locking the gate so you could not park the car in a safe place.
You can file a small claim yourself with the Clerk of Courts or try one of the court TV shows.

They misrepresented the safety and security of the community by not securing the gate. They failed their contract or in other words, defaulted. Throw that at them. Tell them you would like to give a reasonable notice to quit. Talking to them is a great way to start.

Getting a sublet is your easiest and cheapest way to get out of it. The next option would be to see if the complex allows you to terminate your lease early by paying a penalty.

there’s usually a clause in your contract that you can pay out of but it tends to be more than it’s worth at times. I’d sugest legal action against the management company, usually that keeps you from having to pay the fee that the contract holds.
If anything just keep moving up the ladder until you made it clear that it wasn’t you but the managment company that negated the contract.
