The GRE is not related to any field. It’s simply the SAT at a higher level, testing basic math (at an even lower level than the SAT) and a expecting a higher level of reading comprehension and writing skills. The GRE does not test specific subjects. There’s no simple or easy PhD that’s worth anything at all, and even the low ranked programs still require the GRE. Just take it. If you’re really ready for grad school, it’s easy. Of course, the programs you can apply to for a PhD will be limited by the major you chose for your bachelors degree. But you really can’t expect to finish a masters and PhD (and if you haven’t done a masters in the field, you need to do that first, even if you’re accepted to a PhD program) in less than 4 years, and you will have to write and defend an original dissertation.

eri gave a good answer. There are no shortcuts to a PhD. A PhD is for the best and brightest.
My daughter is in grad school now and had offers now from six schools for a fully funded PhD program.
If there were shortcut ways for unqualified people to get a PhD, the term PhD would cease to mean anything.
If you cannot pass the GRE, you are not PhD material.
